ABOUT

As a biomedical engineer, Michiel is interested in combining technical insight, physiological knowledge and biosignal processing in collaboration with experts in the medical-scientific domain of neuroscience. He has been aiding the Coma Science Group in multiple projects as an intern and will continue to do so as an official member of the team by doing a PhD. His research will focus on neuroimaging (predominantly electroencephalography) to detect covert consciousness in an effort to counteract the limitations of behavioural assessments in such cases, with the aim of working towards improved diagnosis and prognosis for acute DOC patients.
